We're Moving!!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that we're moving!! I've been blogging for awhile and love it.  I've heard from many people about the different types of blog hosts, Blogger, WordPress, etc.  One of the things I hear most is that some people will never even visit a blog unless it is personally hosted and done via it’s own website and not one of those.  So I decided to go out on a limb and try to make my own.  Using go Daddy for the hosting and WordPress.org for the program that I downloaded to use for creating, we’ll see how this goes.

Check out my new site at www.tigerstrypes.com - Do you have any tips? Have you done a switch and loved it, regretted it?  Let me know.  I’m still going to keep my Blogger site and just have a link to here, but I figured it was time to venture out and get creative on my own.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to click the link and then follow my new blog via BlogLovin, Google+, etc.

Have a blessed day!!

"Illuminated Pumpkin Craft" #TBCCrafters (10/03/2013)

TBC CRAFTER'S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) - 09/26/2013

I saw this craft on the Recaptured Charm website and loved it.  I wanted to try it out for myself and do it a bit different.  Fall and Harvest season are my absolute favorite time of year.  The air is getting crisp and the trees are beginning to change colors up here in the White Mountains of Arizona.  We usually plan a trip up a bit higher in the hills to see the glorious artwork that the Lord provides in the hills.

Here's a picture from a past Fall season in our area:

For my craft, I wanted to make something that wouldn't be set to any specific holiday.  I don't really "celebrate" Halloween, per se, however really put an emphasis on the Harvest Season of this time of year.  This craft can be left out for Thanksgiving time, as well.  Pretty easy to make, and would be really fun for your little ones to help out to get their hands full of glue (I sure wouldn't miss that part) ha/ha.  I hope you like it!!

"Illuminated Pumpkin" Craft
Materials Needed:
  • Balloons
  • Shipping Twine
  • White Glue
  • Sponge Applicator
  • Gloves
  • Lights
  • Twig/Branch
  • Newspaper for Table
  • & Time

Instructions:

Most of the materials needed, I was able to get at the Dollar Tree in our area.  The lights were the only thing I had to buy elsewhere, but got on sale, so not too expensive.  Begin this craft by blowing up a few balloons to the sizes you'll want your pumpkins to be (give or take).  You can secure them in plastic cups to make it easier to attach the twine.  I actually ended up using my gloved hands to just hold them, which made it easier.

Begin by "painting" the glue around the entire surface of the balloon.

Start wrapping the twine around the balloon, making sure it sits somewhat tight.  There are no right or wrong ways to wrap it, use your imagination and go crazy with the twists and turns.  Just make sure to leave a bit of room at the top and bottom for some of the finishing.

When you have the twine completed, let the balloons sit in the cups to dry for about 3-4 hours.

Once they have almost become dried and are pliable, pop the balloons and somewhat "smash" in the top and bottom to make it a bit more pumpkin-shaped.  Once you have your preferred shape, let it sit overnight or for a few more hours to dry completely.

Now that your "pumpkin" is completely dry, you can paint it or decorate it how you wish.  I wanted to keep it a bit natural, so I just coated over it with clear paint to make sure the pieces were secured.  When the paint is dry, you can insert your lights in the bottom hole and make sure to leave enough out to plug it in where you wish.  You could always go with battery operated lights and put it wherever you wish, but those just cost too much and I didn't want to go with those.

Once you have the lights inside, be sure to poke the plug in out of the back at the bottom, so it's a bit hidden.

Now, just cut an old branch into a "stem" size and attach it to the top of your pumpkin.  You can also attach leaves and other twine rolled up to look like stems, etc., whatever you wish to add is up to you.

Once you have this all finished, plug it in and enjoy.  Hope you like it!!

Added Benefits For Your Garden!!

I got some of the "Super-Cal Liquid Calcium" from StuffStuff to try out and give my opinion on.  It was very easy to use, and worked great.  Had my garden that was looking a bit tired up and running smoothly again in no time.  Would recommend to anyone.  We live at a high altitude and I wasn't sure it would make a difference, but it did.  Love it!

To grow a lawn that is vibrant and healthy, flowers that are bright and colorful, or nutritious fruits and vegetables that burst with flavor, you must have an abundant supply of calcium. Nothing can replace the role of calcium in the nutritional supply chain, and when it comes to supplying the calcium your plants require, nothing beats Super-Cal.

Super-Cal provides calcium to your growing plants in the soluble form they require, and while many products claim to supply calcium, none can offer the advantages of Super-Cal. Formulated with a proprietary blend of organic acids, Super-Cal works in the soil to break down unavailable calcium and convert it to an available form that plants can utilize. With Super-Cal, literally hundreds of pounds of insoluble calcium can be brought into solution, insuring that your plants have an abundant supply. Don't Starve Your Plants Of The Calcium They Need. Feed Them Super-Cal And See The Difference!

#LovingMemories Campaign - @CreationSource Jewelry

#Sponsored by "The Blogger Connection"

So, I got an email from "The Blogger Connection" about "Creation Source" and was really interested.  I signed up to be a part of it, and I am so glad I did.  I was contacted by the owner within a day or so and he ran over what I needed to do, which was email about 8 photos that I wanted on the ring.  After that, they went to work and I received my beautiful jewelry about 2 days ago.  Didn't take long at all and I am very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship.

For my piece, I chose about 8 photos that had to do with my Grama.  We lost her in May of last year and life just doesn't seem the same without her.  Granted, I know she's up in heaven and we'll be together again one day - it's just hard not to be able to talk to her down here anymore.

With the pictures I chose and this great website, I decided to have this made for a gift for my Mom for Christmas.  I knew that it would mean a lot and be able to be something that went beyond just being a ring.

Here are some photos of the ring:

Button Bugs Craft (#TBCCrafters) - 09/26/13

TBC CRAFTER'S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) - 09/26/2013

Well, this week is crazy, so I just had to do something simple and easy - hope you don't mind.  Coming up on Friday is the "Cavalcade of Cars" up here in Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ and, I think, my favorite time of year!!  A bunch of oldies that are up here for the "Run to the Pines" car show all get together and cruise our main road all the way to Hon-Dah Casino and have a classic cruise night.  It's the most fun event of the fall....well EVER!! Almost everyone in our small town gets together and sits on the side of the road to enjoy the cruise, and the candy that we through out from our classics.  Living in a small town can be awesome at times like this, when you see a whole community come together for an event.  I love it!!

Here's my "Cruiser":

With this event coming up, my Mom is flying out from Oregon, to be a part of it with us.  I CAN'T WAIT!! and we're going to have a great time.  With all of this coming up and happening, I only had a few minutes early in the week to put this together.  Hope you like it!!

"Button Bugs" Craft
Materials Needed:
  • Plastic Buttons
  • Craft Wire (Different Colors)
  • Ruler
  • Wire Clippers
  • Glue Gun
  • Wiggly Eyes
  • & Time

Instructions:

Begin by cutting your "antennae" wire in 3" sections.  You'll need one (1) of these for every creature you're going to make.

Next, cut pieces that are going to be the "feet" in 2.5" sections.  You'll need three (3) of these for every creature you're going to make.

Take one of the 3" sections and thread through the eyes of the button.

Twist them tight and then fold up and over the front to resemble "antennae".

Put a dot of glue near the holes to adhere the "legs" to the bottom.

Now attach the (3) 2.5" pieces onto the glue spot, making sure to cover the pieces in glue, so that they will not fall off.

Using your fingers, or pliers, bend each of the ends of the "legs" down, so that they will be able to be stood up.  Try and bend them apart as well to have space between each of them.

Now you can glue on your eyes.  Just put a small dot on each side of where your antennae go up and attach them onto the front of the button.

Next, you can bend the tips of the antennae however you wish it to look.

Now you can hide them or display them wherever you wish.  Cute little friends for planters or shelves.  Hope you like them!!

Think 4:8 Book Review

I got this book from Tyndale PR for me to read and then give my opinion.  Reading the summary of the book, I saw that it was pretty much aimed for kids, however, we as a family decided to use it as our evening devotional book.  So far, it has been amazing.  There are great teachings every night and most of them are something that my husband and I take away more from than our son.  He is learning a lot and being able to tell us how he feels and how the studies pertain to his life.  It has a been a great time of fellowship, of learning and of growth as a family.

The cute little "Stick 'Em's" are great - my husband has been copying them and actually putting them on his tool box at work to help him through his day.  There are so many great ideas in each day's study that we are all taking away so much!!  The authors are able to put this across in a way that all ages can learn and live by.

About the Book

The best-selling author of The 4:8 Principle and 40 Days to a Joy-filled Life returns with a special edition for teens. In just 40 days, teens can change their minds and their attitudes. Tommy Newberry, together with writer Lyn Smith, takes teens from thinking negatively to thinking positively, which will change their entire outlook on life. Not only will this devotional make teens think more positively and have a better attitude, this devotional also points teens to Scripture and helps them understand more about God. The devotions not only help teens understand how their thought life determines their perspective, but they also help them focus their minds on godly truths so they can live out their faith.

This book is the perfect way for teens to get a new attitude and start living a fulfilling, joy-filled life in just 40 days.
