I received "The Confession" DVD from Elliott Wallach with Edify Media, Inc., asking if I would watch it and give my opinion. I had been out of town for awhile, so forgive me Elliott for it taking so long. My husband and I sat down last night and watched the whole movie and I have one question....when does part 2 come out??? We are sitting on the edge of our seats wanting to know what happened!!
What a great movie, a good story that would be great for a family movie night, movie night at a church, etc. There are so many things that could be taught from this movie in regards to lying, cheating, etc. Great conversations could be had for sure. Plus, it's a film from Michael Landon Jr.!! Who doesn't love what his family has stood for over the years. Great production, great cast, all in all...worth it. But we still need part 2!! hint, hint ;)
For those of you wanting to know what it's about, here's a short description:
Raised by an Amish family, Katie Lapp (Katie Leclerc, TV's "Switched at Birth") starts a quest to find her birth-mother, Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Sherry Stringfield, TV's "ER"). Along the way, two very different men try to help her overcome a devious scheme to steal her rightful inheritance and divide her heart between two worlds. Katie Lapp (Katie Leclerc) is an innocent young Amish woman who has ventured out of her small Lancaster community for the first time after a painful incident led to her “shunning” from the very township that raised her. As she takes on the unfamiliar outside world, she is desperate to track down her birth mother, a wealthy and generous woman named Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Sherry Stringfield) who is sadly dying of cancer. With only a few months to live, Laura and her husband Dylan (Adrian Paul) prepare Laura’s estate and will. When Dylan, a greedy gambling addict, finds out he will inherit close to nothing from his wife, he hires an out-of-work actress, Alyson (Julia Whelan), to feign as Laura’s long-lost Amish daughter—hoping Laura will take the bait and leave her entire estate to her only child.
Believing her daughter has finally returned to comfort her in her last days, Laura welcomes Alyson into her home at the same time the real Katie finally arrives at her door. Soon, a case of mistaken identity—and the unexpected return of Katie’s mysteriously missing Amish boyfriend—leads Laura to the conclusion in this heartening Amish story of long-kept secrets and a family’s true faith in love.
